Seven score for Sharks in shootout win against Coyotes


SAN JOSE — Seven players scored for the San Jose Sharks in an 8-7 shootout win against the Arizona Coyotes at SAP Center on Tuesday.

Logan Couture, Timo Meier and Alexander Barabanov each had a goal and an assist for the Sharks (16-14-1), who hadn’t played since Dec. 16. James Reimer made 39 saves.

Lawson Crouse and Phil Kessel each scored four points, and Andrew Ladd tied it with 1:29 remaining in the third period for the Coyotes (6-21-3), who played for the first time since Dec. 17. Janis Moser scored his first two NHL goals.

Arizona rallied in the third when Shayne Gostisbehere scored on a shot from Kessel to make it 7-6 at 16:51 before Ladd scored on a power play at 18:31 to tie it 7-7.

Barabanov made it 1-0 at 2:46 of the first period when he tipped in a shot by Couture.

Crouse tied it up 1-1 at 5:36 with a shot from the left face-off circle.

Nick Bonino gave San Jose a 2-1 lead with a backhand shot at 11:22.

Moser’s first NHL goal tied it 2-2 at 17:40 after a turnover behind the net by Sharks defenseman Brent Burns.

Radim Simek scored his first of the season with a shot from the blue line to give San Jose a 3-2 lead at 5:27 of the second period, and Jeffrey Viel scored his first NHL goal seven seconds later to make it 4-2 at 5:34.

Clayton Keller cut it to 4-3 at 7:48.

Meier made it 5-3 at 14:13 when he swatted the puck out of the air past Scott Wedgewood‘s blocker.

Moser scored his second of the game on a power play at 19:37 to make it 5-4.

Tomas Hertl scored his 15th goal of the season at 1:44 of the third period to give the Sharks a 6-4 lead.

Crouse scored his second goal at 7:35 to make it 6-5.

Couture made it 7-5 at 13:00 when Barabanov set him up with a no-look pass.

Couture and Hertl each scored in the shootout. Nick Schmaltz shot wide, and Reimer sealed it with a save against Keller.

Wedgewood made 20 saves for Arizona.
