ST. PAUL, Minn. — Kirill Kaprizov scored three third-period goals for his first NHL hat trick, and the Minnesota Wild defeated the Arizona Coyotes 4-0 at Xcel Energy Center on Friday.
Cam Talbot made 25 saves for Minnesota (16-8-1), which has won three in a row and six straight at home. Kaprizov leads the Wild and NHL rookies with 10 goals and 23 points.
Adin Hill made 28 saves for Arizona (12-11-4), which has lost two straight.
The teams play again here Sunday.
Kaprizov made it 1-0 off a pass from Mats Zuccarello and banking it off an Arizona skate for a 1-0 lead at 5:47 of the third.
Kaprizov scored at 8:10 to make it 2-0, and with 49 seconds left for the 4-0 final. He played his 25th NHL game.
Jonas Brodin scored into an empty net at 19:01 to make it 3-0.
Minnesota forward Marcus Foligno left the game at 11:30 of the first period after appearing to take a slap shot to his right ankle.
