Brown week to week for Senators with broken jaw

Connor Brown is week to week for the Ottawa Senators with a broken jaw.

The forward was injured prior to a 4-1 win at the Calgary Flames on Thursday but played in the game. He scored a goal and an assist in 19:28 of ice time.

“Took a puck in warmup, didn’t end up being that bad and ends up looking like a broken jaw, cracked jaw at this point, so that’s a huge loss for us,” Senators coach D.J. Smith said Friday. “But again, an opportunity for someone else.”

Brown is fourth on the Senators in points with 19 (five goals, 14 assists) in 26 games.

Smith also said forward Scott Sabourin is week to week after injuring his hand. He has no points in four games.

The Senators (10-18-2) visit the Edmonton Oilers on Saturday (10 p.m. ET; CBC, SN, CITY, TVAS, ESPN+, NHL LIVE).
