Weber of Canadiens fined $5,000 for incident in Game 1 of Cup Final

NEW YORK — Montreal Canadiens defenseman Shea Weber has been fined $5,000, the maximum allowable under the Collective Bargaining Agreement, for slashing Tampa Bay Lightning forward Nikita Kucherov during Game 1 of the Stanley Cup Final in Tampa on Monday, June 28, the National Hockey League’s Department of Player Safety announced today.

The incident occurred at 16:32 of the third period.

The money goes to the Players’ Emergency Assistance Fund.
