NEWARK, N.J. — Igor Shesterkin made 27 saves for the New York Rangers for his first NHL shutout in a 3-0 win against the New Jersey Devils at Prudential Center on Tuesday.

Mika Zibanejad, Artemi Panarin and Pavel Buchnevich scored, and Adam Fox had two assists for the Rangers (20-16-6), who have gotten at least one point in seven of eight games (5-1-2).

Mackenzie Blackwood made 17 saves in his third straight start for the Devils (14-21-6), who have lost three straight and seven of eight.

Zibanejad gave the Rangers a 1-0 lead when he skated past defenseman Ryan Murray at the Devils blue line and scored on a snap shot from the slot at 7:02 of the first period.

Shesterkin stopped Jesper Bratt with his right pad on a breakaway attempt 22 seconds into the first and denied Miles Wood with his blocker on a breakaway attempt at 4:16 of the second period.

He again stopped Wood with his left pad on a shot from the left face-off circle on a 2-on-1 with Nico Hischier at 17:09 of the second.

Hischier, the Devils captain, had two shots on goal in 20:58 in his return to the lineup after missing 24 games with a frontal sinus fracture.

Panarin scored on a wrist shot from low in the left face-off circle for a 2-0 lead at 7:50 of the third period.

Panarin’s 138 points (45 goals, 93 assists) in his first 100 games with the Rangers broke Mark Messier’s record of 137.

Buchnevich scored an empty-net goal with 28 second remaining to make it 3-0.
