Sept. 30: NHL Preseason Roundup


Filip Forsberg scored twice and had an assist for the Nashville Predators in a 6-2 preseason win against the Tampa Bay Lightning at Amalie Arena in Tampa on Thursday.

Egor Afanasyev scored two goals, Thomas Novak had a goal and an assist, and Matt Duchene scored for the Predators. Ben Harpur had two assists, and David Rittich made six saves on seven shots. Connor Ingram made 16 saves in relief.

Anthony Cirelli and Fredrik Claesson scored for the Lightning, who were 1-for-7 on the power play and have lost their first two games in the preseason. Brian Elliott allowed three goals facing 14 shots, and Amir Miftakhov made 14 saves on 17 shots.

Bruins 4, Flyers 2: Four Boston Bruins scored in a 4-2 preseason win against the Philadelphia Flyers at TD Garden in Boston on Thursday.

Brad Marchand, Craig Smith, Brandon Carlo and Jake DeBrusk scored for the Bruins. Taylor Hall and Erik Haula each had two assists, and Jeremy Swayman made 16 saves.

Joel Farabee scored two power-play goals for the Flyers. Martin Jones made eight saves on 11 shots, and Felix Sandstrom allowed one goal on 12 shots in relief.

Red Wings 6, Sabres 2: Robby Fabbri scored two goals, and Pius Suter had three assists for the Detroit Red Wings in a 6-2 preseason win against the Buffalo Sabres at Little Caesars Arena in Detroit on Thursday.

Fabbri (2:06), Lucas Raymond (2:29) and Troy Stecher (5:18) scored in a span of 3:12 in a four-goal second period that gave Detroit a 4-2 lead.

Alex Nedeljkovic made 17 saves on 19 shots in his Red Wings debut. Victor Brattstrom saved 13 shots in relief.

Rasmus Asplund had a goal and an assist, Dylan Cozens had two assists, and Ukko-Pekka Luukkonen made 26 saves for the Sabres.
