Mysak named to Czech Republic select camp roster for World Juniors

The camp will start Saturday in Vyskov, Czech Republic.

Mysak, selected in the second round (No. 48) by the Montreal Canadiens, is among 42 players invited. The 18-year-old forward scored 25 points (15 goals, 10 assists) in 22 games for Hamilton of the Ontario Hockey League last season. He joined Hamilton after scoring two points (one goal, one assist) for the Czech Republic at the 2020 WJC.

Other 2020 Draft picks attending are forwards Jaromir Pytlik (No. 99, New Jersey Devils), Pavel Novak (No. 146, Minnesota Wild) and Adam Raska (No. 201, San Jose Sharks); defenseman Michael Krutil (No. 110, Chicago Blackhawks); and goalie Jan Bednar (No. 107, Detroit Red Wings).

Mysak and Pytlik are two of nine players who were on the Czech Republic team that finished seventh at the 2020 WJC. Among them is Blackhawks forward prospect Michal Teply, a fourth-round pick (No. 105) in the 2019 NHL Draft who led the Czech Republic with five assists in five games.

Also invited is defenseman Stanislav Svozil, who plays for Brno in the Czech Extraliga, the top professional league in the Czech Republic. He received a B rating from NHL Central Scouting in its players to watch list for the 2021 NHL Draft.

The 2021 WJC is scheduled to be played Dec. 25-Jan. 5 at Rogers Place in Edmonton, with no fans in the building and in a secure zone similar to what the NHL used for the Stanley Cup Playoffs. Teams are scheduled to arrive in Edmonton on Dec. 13.

The Czech Republic will play in Group B during the preliminary round, starting against Sweden on Dec. 26 followed by games against Russia (Dec. 27), the United States (Dec. 29) and Austria (Dec. 31). Group A consists of Canada, Finland, Switzerland, Slovakia and Germany.

All games will be broadcast in the United States on NHL Network.
