Matthews lifts Maple Leafs to OT win against Flames

TORONTO — Auston Matthews scored at 2:32 of overtime to give the Toronto Maple Leafs a 2-1 win against the Calgary Flames at Scotiabank Arena on Friday.

Matthews shot between Dan Vladar‘s pads from the top of the right face-off circle.

William Nylander scored, and Jack Campbell made 30 saves for the Maple Leafs (9-5-1), who have won seven of eight games.

Oliver Kylington scored, and Vladar made 35 saves for the Flames (7-3-4), who are 0-2-1 in their past three.

Calgary went ahead 1-0 at 4:55 of the third period when Kylington scored on a give-and-go with Johnny Gaudreau, shooting over Campbell’s outstretched left pad.

Nylander tied it 1-1 at 12:54 when he one-timed a pass from Alexander Kerfoot at the top of the left face-off circle. It was his Toronto-leading eighth goal of the season.

The Maple Leafs were 0-for-3 on the power play; the Flames were 0-for-1.
