Lowry signs five-year, $16.25 million contract with Jets


Adam Lowry signed a five-year, $16.25 million contract with the Winnipeg Jets on Friday. It has an average annual value of $3.25 million.

The 28-year-old forward has scored 20 points (eight goals, 12 assists) in 44 games this season. He is in the final season of a three-year contract he signed with Winnipeg on July 19, 2018 and could have become an unrestricted free agent after the season.

Selected by Winnipeg in the third round (No. 67) of the 2011 NHL Draft, Lowry has scored 143 points (65 goals, 78 assists) in 452 regular-season games and nine points (three goals, six assists) in 31 Stanley Cup Playoff games.

The Jets (27-14-3) are second in the seven-team Scotia North Division, three points behind the Toronto Maple Leafs, and 16 ahead of the fifth-place Calgary Flames. The top four teams will qualify for the playoffs.
