Janne Kuokkanen signed a two-year, $3.65 million contract with the New Jersey Devils on Monday. He will receive $1.6 million the first season and $2.05 million the second season.
The 23-year-old forward, who was a restricted free agent, scored 25 points (eight goals, 17 assists) in 50 games as a rookie last season.
Selected by the Carolina Hurricanes in the second round (No. 43) of the 2016 NHL Draft, Kuokkanen was acquired by New Jersey in a trade with Carolina for defenseman Sami Vatanen on Feb. 24, 2020.
Kuokkanen’s contract comes after the Devils signed forwards Tomas Tatar ($9 million) and Yegor Sharangovich ($4 million) to two-year contracts on Thursday. They also agreed with defenseman Dougie Hamilton on a seven-year, $63 million contract and signed goalie Jonathan Bernier to a two-year, $8.25 million contract on July 28.
