Drysdale lifts Ducks past Flames in OT

CALGARY — John Gibson made 41 saves, and Jamie Drysdale scored with 1:34 left in overtime to give the Anaheim Ducks a 3-2 win against the Calgary Flames at Scotiabank Saddledome on Monday.

Drysdale one-timed a pass from Troy Terry past the outstretched pad of Jacob Markstrom.

Cam Fowler and Rickard Rakell scored, and Terry had two assists for the Ducks (2-1-0). 

Elias Lindholm and Blake Coleman scored, and Markstrom made 24 saves for the Flames (0-1-1).

Rakell tied it 2-2 at 12:55 of the third period, shooting blocker side on Markstrom from the high slot after receiving a cross-ice pass from Adam Henrique.

Coleman, who was making his Calgary debut after he was suspended for the opener, made it 1-0 at 7:43 of the first period. He shot under Gibson’s arm from the hashmarks on a breakaway after taking a pass from Johnny Gaudreau

Fowler tied it 1-1 at 15:56 with a shot from the top of the right circle on the power play. 

Lindholm gave the Flames a 2-1 lead at 3:52 of the second period when he took a cross-ice pass from Gaudreau and shot five-hole of Gibson.

Ducks forward Mason McTavish, who was selected with the No. 3 pick in the 2021 NHL Draft, sustained a lower-body injury in the second period and did not return.
