Having fans back in Bell Centre for the first time in 444 days had everyone happy enough to sing.
And that’s just what the 2,500 fans in attendance on Saturday did.
Before the Montreal Canadiens played the Toronto Maple Leafs in Game 6 of the Eastern Conference First Round, the crowd sang a stirring rendition of the Canadian national anthem.
Montreal became the first Canadian team to have fans at a game this postseason. Game 6 was the first game with fans in Canada since the COVID-19 pandemic shut down play in March 2020.
Montreal organist Diane Bibaud played the first few bars of “O Canada” and the fans did the rest.
