Binnington makes 39 saves for Blues in shootout win against Jets


WINNIPEG — Jordan Binnington made 39 saves and did not allow a goal on four shots in the shootout for the St. Louis Blues in a 3-2 win against the Winnipeg Jets at Canada Life Centre on Tuesday.

Jordan Kyrou and Pavel Buchnevich each had a goal and an assist for the Blues (8-2-1). Ryan O’Reilly scored the only goal in the shootout.

Kyle Connor and Neal Pionk scored for the Jets (6-3-3). Connor Hellebuyck made 31 saves, including 10 in overtime, after missing three games with a non-COVID-related illness.

Buchnevich gave the Blues a 1-0 lead on the power play at 18:09 of the first period.

Pionk tied it 1-1 at 10:56 of the second period with a wrist shot from the point.

Connor scored his ninth goal of the season to give the Jets a 2-1 lead at 6:22 of the third period. Blake Wheeler had an assist to become the first player in Jets/Atlanta Thrashers history to score 700 points.

Kyrou tied it 2-2 at 11:54.
