Bean traded to Blue Jackets by Hurricanes for second-round pick


Jake Bean was traded to the Columbus Blue Jackets by the Carolina Hurricanes on Friday.

Carolina received a second-round pick (No. 44) in the 2021 NHL Draft that Columbus acquired from the Chicago Blackhawks as part of the trade for defenseman Seth Jones.

Bean, a 23-year-old defenseman selected by the Hurricanes with the No. 13 pick in the 2016 NHL Draft, scored 12 points (one goal, 11 assists) in 42 games as a rookie this season and one goal in 11 Stanley Cup Playoff games. He can become a restricted free agent July 28.
